The GMAT test (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a 4 hour test given on computer that is required by most business schools. The GMAT test is composed of verbal skills, written testing and ability to deduce correct answers from multiple choices (quantitative).
The GMAT tutor will review analytical writing in terms of issue and argument with emphasis on clear meaning, proper English language usage, mastery of grammar and analytical reasoning. Verbal reasoning will be gone over with emphasis on deduction based on facts, word meanings and comprehension, and sentence structure. The GMAT tutorial will also consist of quantitative multiple choice questions that may consist of basic math skills, reasoning ability, the ability to conceive an idea and solve problems. Tutors will discuss with the student sitting for the exam what they feel their strong points are versus their weakest points, and a lesson plan may be worked out with certain goals put into place. It is very important that the potential test taker is receiving adequate tutoring as the GMAT test is computer adaptive. This means that the test is taken on a computer, and as the student answers the question the computer adapts to the answer. If one question is answered correctly, the following question is of a higher difficulty, and the test continues accordingly. Also, there is no opportunity to go back and check answers with the GMAT test.
Some online GMAT tutorials include 24 hour tutoring support, multiple hours of video tutorial, total length GMAT practice tests and downloadable GMAT testing. GMAT tutoring fees range anywhere from 399.00 to 1500.00 dollars for certain tutoring packages and materials such as cd roms or books.
