Software tutorials are tutoring session to learn how to properly use certain computer programs. Computer software may be a program for office use, such as Microsoft Excel or Word, a database for keeping track of records and accounts such as Microsoft Access, or software for presentations such as Microsoft PowerPoint. There is bookkeeping software like Quick Books, and art software such as Paint Shop Pro.

Computer software isn't always easy to decipher and understand. The simplest request of a program may take several steps to accomplish, and so at times extra help is needed in learning how to negotiate what could be an intimidating endeavor. Programs for art and 3D design may be particularly hard to understand, especially for the novice. Even the experienced software user may have problems occasionally and need to ask for help.

Software tutorials may be found on the internet and can be quite helpful. There are websites devoted to tutorials that have message boards and daily updates on new discoveries for certain programs. This is particularly true in the case of art programs such as Photoshop and multi dimensional design software. Persons wanting to further their knowledge in a particular area may leave messages on the public forum and will in all likelihood be answered fairly quickly by a professional or another user of the same software who has more experience with that particular program or who have experience with solving that particular problem.

Tutorials may be found in books for computer programs. These books may be written by the software company or by persons who have a thorough knowledge of the software. There are also cd roms available for specific programs, where a person experienced with the program in question has perfected his or her knowledge of the program and so has made an educational cd for other's use in learning how to efficiently use the software.
